Flower Power Fini

Ok, I didn't wipe it off, I took your kind words of support and decided to work a little more on it. It is what it is. This piece is much more impressionistic than I usually do. I am still not happy with the face and may go back with some glazing on it. 12x16 oil on gallery wrapped canvas. $200.00 ©

Flower Power

Take a good look. I worked on this painting for 4 hrs today. I am sooooo close to wiping it off. It is too washed out. It isn't totally finished some tweeking needs to be done to the sunflowers but I am not happy with it. Maybe it is just one of those days. I will let you know if it survives. 12 x 16 oil. © For Sale Soon.

Daily Painters Art Gallery.

How can anyone with some time on their hands and a computer ever be bored? There is so much wonderful art to see and do in the world. I have just spent the night (Friday) looking at every single artist work at the Daily Painters Art Gallery. Click on the widget to the right to visit yourself. There is so much wonderful art there, I wish I could have it all! I certainly found a huge wish list of art there. It is very inspiring as an artist to look at other artists work. Please give them a look and buy a piece of original art for your own collection. You can also buy from me at my gallery link to the right as well! Original art gives so much pleasure and joy to the collector not to mention the joy the artist has in creating it.

This piece transfers a little darker than it is. I Chose this man from a large group in the streets of Katmandu. From the photo it looked like a festival. He seemed so purposeful. I wanted him to be the focal point so I left the background plain. More men should wear these colors. 9x12 oil on board

I enjoy seeing brush strokes in a painting. If the painting is so smooth you almost get an airbrush effect as I did in a previous portrait of Miss M. I understand the challenge and satisfaction of seeking a photographic effect in a portrait. but that is not what I seek. I want to see the painterly quality.

Beauty Secrets

You never know the beauty secrets that lurk behind the faces of the beautiful people you see everyday. This is just a fast study of a fascinating subject. This is inspired by a flickr photo. Although I haven't been able to find it, I read there was a photo of Marilyn Monroe like this. 6"x8" oil study.© $75.00 SOLD

The Eyes Have It-work in progress

This is from a vintage photo of a Japanese woman from around the 1920's. I am sorry I do not know the reason for the scarf. Whether it is religious or just for the photo. This painting is 12x16 inches oil on board. I think I will keep working on this one as it can use some warmth. I will post the finished painting later.

Leaning Pear

Happy New Year! Ok, my blog resolution for 2008 is to try to drive more traffic here. To make an effort to sell my work, to continue with my blog and to continue to grow as an artist through my daily painting studies. I am also going to set up a website. I have to make a decision on some online outlets to sell my paintings. There is a lot to do. My first submission for 2008 is a 6x8 oil of three pears. I used a lot of simple brush stokes and unusual colors here. I am also going to do some very large paintings this year as well as my great love of more plein air work.
