Lurking Leek

A small exercise in composition and value. This one has thick juicy paint. 6x6 oil on gessoed board. ©2008 $100.00

Hey Nancy. Today is pepper day. I've never done the leek yet. Yours looks good. What did Elio mean when he talked about holding the brush, speed and angle? Stay cool and watch out for the twisters.

Thanks a lot Mark. Ok, Elio hold the brush at the very end tip, he has more flexibility and control becase he is not taking time moving his whole arm. He paints very fast and lays the color down and leaves it.
As far as angle, His brush stroks are always angular and thick leading your eye in the direction through the painting he wants you to go. Hope that helps. Most of those twisters come from your way, tell them to stop or go some where else. I can't wait to see you paint a leek!
