And Thou by Nancy Rhodes Harper

I am not really a lover of wine. Never acquired the taste. None the less it is a beautiful subject to paint and people seem to be drawn to paintings of wine. 6x12 oil on gallery wrap canvas. ©2010 $150.00 plus s/h. Contact me Nancy Rhodes Harper if interested. Thanks for looking!

Autumn Grapes by Nancy Rhodes Harper

I often take nature and it's bounty for granted. I have never really thought about it before but isn't it  amazing that the colors of fall reflect in our fall crops of fruits and vegetables. Pumpkins, grapes, gourds (we don't eat those do we?), fall apples, Indian corn, on and on. Beauty is everywhere if we take the time to look and it is free! 4x12 oil on gallery wrap canvas.©2010. This piece is available at the Belle Meade Shoppes in Nashville, Tn.  Contact me if interested. Nancy Rhodes Harper (click on my name). Thanks for looking!

I was in a workshop last week which took the wind out of my painting marathon for Sept. Although I continued to paint. I was so tired in the evenings I just wilted. It looks like I will lap into Oct. and I may have to post more than one painting to finish.

Mocha Frappachino Ambiance by Nancy Rhodes Harper

I somehow survived my entire life without drinking or even liking coffee. It smelled great but tasted so bitter and bad. Until the day! The day the heavens opened up and the big green sign came down from the sky and I heard this giant alien coffee bean say: "Mocha Frappachino With An Extra Shot!" Ok, I said, but I don't like anything with coffee in it. Oh you will like this the bean said. Go follow the road to the big green sign and tell the people called barista's that you want a venti mocha frappachino with an extra shot. Well by this time I was sure I was pretty much going nuts or was going to win a Nobel peace price because I was having a conversation with a coffee bean. Ok, I am just kidding about the bean but not about discovering the great frappachino. I have to think of them as poison now because I like them too much and save them for a once in a while treat, that is after I load an extra $50.00 on my Starbucks card. This is a 6x6 oil painted in a local Starbucks. ©2010 thanks for looking!

Looking For Parmesan by Nancy Rhodes Harper

Another beautiful vegetable, that is beautiful to look at but takes time to prepare when you cook it. I am all about simple, fast instant gratification kind of vegetables but eggplant Parmesan is really wonderful. I love the deep lush colors that the sunlight casts upon them as they glow in the garden. So perfect. 6x6 oil on 2" gallery wrap canvas ©2010. Available, contact me for information. Thanks for looking!
Note: A very dear friend Beckie Saar Leone, pointed out that I was off in my count for my daily painting marathon works ! I had lost a day in there somewhere and was cheating myself out of a painting. Can you imagine? I am so grateful that she is so observant. Thanks Becky!

Sophisticated Country by Nancy Rhodes Harper

I love to visit Nashville, the people are great, there is a huge artist community and lot's of interesting things to see. The building in this painting with the two spikes on it is nicknamed the bat building because it looks like batman's headpiece. It is currently owned by AT&T. 8x8 oil on 2" gallery wrapped canvas. One Singular Sensation by Nancy Rhodes Harper

When I was a child it was my dream to be a Broadway dancer. Being from a very small town we did not have dance classes of any kind, so I got my dance education from variety shows on tv. The Jackie Gleason Show featured a group of dancers called The June Taylor Dancers every week and I would stand in fromt of the tv and dance with them. One September when I was around 6 years old the June Taylor Dancers came to perform at out county fair. At last I saw my chance to be discovered and on my way to Broadway. I stood in the dirt in front of the stage and danced uninvited with the June Taylor Dancers and I must admit I got quite a lot of applause for it too! Fast forward a few years and I decided to take ballet in college. Right, you guessed it, I had never taken ballet before and I was horrid. We had to dance in the theater production of The Music Man and I heard our teacher say "Oh my god that redhead is going to ruin the show!" Well that did it. I learned the routine made it through the musical and retired from dancing! 6x6 oil on panel ©2010 $110.00 + s/h contact Nancy Rhodes Harper if interested in purchasing. Thanks for looking!

I Heart Radishes 2 by Nancy Rhodes Harper

My fascination with the beauty and fun of painting radishes continues. I have plans for a few more. I really don't like the taste of radishes though. Which is a problem because I will just throw them in the compost when wilted. It is kind of wasteful but, still green! It may be turnips next! 6x6 oil on panel ©2010 Contact Nancy Rhodes Harper if interested in purchasing. Thanks for looking!

Two's A Pear But Three's A Crowd by Nancy Rhodes Harper

Pears are quirky little things and really fun to paint. My favorite is to put them in a salad with greens, walnuts and blue cheese, yumm! Pears are wonderful when they are perfectly ripe and juicy but if you get one that isn't quite ripe it is hard and no real flavor. Viva la pear! 6x6 oil on panel ©2010 $100.00 Contact Nancy Rhodes Harper Thanks for looking!

Lip Service Brigade by Nancy Rhodes Harper

I don't know about you but I love to buy lipstick. It never seems to stay on very long, it just disappears but the main reason I buy it is because I love the colors! I go to the makeup counter and look at all of the luscious colors and I can't resist. I will never tell how many tubes I have and if you ask I will totally deny that I have any. It is one of those things I like to keep as a mystery! 6x6 oil on panel ©2010 $100.00 plus s/h contact Nancy Rhodes Harper if interested. Thanks for looking.

I Relish Radishes by Nancy Rhodes Harper

Radishes are so beautiful to me. Have you ever just taken time to stop and look at the amazing shapes and colors of fruits and vegetables? To think they are natural and so beautiful as well as nourishment to eat.  Our world is amazing!  6x6 oil on panel $100.00 ©2010 contact Nancy Rhodes Harper

Singing To My Shadow by Nancy Rhodes Harper

When you are an artist in any genre you have to be strong, with a whole lot of self confidence. You have to want to do what you do because you love it. Even if no one sees it, hears it or feels it, even if you have to sing to your shadow because there is no one else there. 6x6 oil on panel ©2010. $100.00 plus s/h contact Nancy Rhodes Harper if interested in purchasing.

Thank God I'm A Country Girl by Nancy Rhodes Harper

Believe it or not there are still teenagers who spend their time on their farms prepping a favorite show cow to compete in a livestock show. This young lady is one of those teens. She isn't out running around looking for the next expensive purse to buy or running up and down the streets. She is so gorgeous, and she doesn't even know it. She has the world at her feet and she thanks God she is a country girl. A small sketch 6x6 oil on panel $100.00 +s/h ©2010 Contact me if interested in purchasing. Thanks for looking!

Summer At The Lake by Nancy Rhodes Harper

When I was a small child I thought it must be amazing for people to have vacation homes, they must have been millionaires! How fun it would be to go to a cooler place where you can swim and play and meet other people during the summer. Although I have been on many vacations where we have stayed in some beautiful places we do not own a vacation home. If I did it would look something like this. 6x8 oil on canvas panel ©2010 $100.00 + s/h If you are interested in purchasing please contact me. Thanks for looking.

The Backside Of Vintage Cargo by Nancy Rhodes Harper

This is a wonderful store in Eureka Springs, Ar. called Vintage Cargo. They have the most beautiful things for your home. The front of the building is as you would expect beautiful. When I was driving around there this summer, I saw such interesting forms on the backside of the building. So I decided to paint it and this is the result. 6x6 oil on canvas board ©2010. $135 +s/h  contact Nancy Rhodes Harper if you are interested in purchasing. Thanks for looking.

The Good Kind Of Bad

Come on, admit it. We have all gone to some sort of outdoor festival and go straight to the food area and load up on things you would never eat at home. I only eat hot dogs at the ball park and what about cotton candy? Not to mention gyros, burritos,on and on until you pop! It is the good taste of bad for you food.

Making The Cut

Remember the old barber shops with the barber pole outside that twists around with different colors? Maybe not, unless you are my age. You don't see many of those anymore. It seems chain stores and day spas are the way both male and females are going to get haircuts these days. This little shop is alive and well on Main Street USA. 6x8 oil on canvas board. Main Street By Nancy Rhodes Harper

I am on a painting marathon for the month of September ! I am trying to paint at least 3 small paintings a day as well as working on my larger pieces. This is the first of the paintings. How often do you see something like this little truck in today's world wouldn't it be fun to drive this around town? I captured this image on Main Street in Northport, Alabama. 6x8 oil on canvas board. © 2010 If interested in purchasing please contact Nancy Rhodes Harper

Austen and Iced Coffee by Nancy Rhodes Harper

I envy people who can take a break for lunch and do something relaxing like reading for a short time. It seems to take me more time to get into the groove. I am not much of a reader. I would rather paint. 9x12 oil on board © 2010. Contact Renaissance Art Gallery if interest in purchasing. Thanks for looking!
